Sons of the Legion
The Sons of the American Legion (SAL) was established in 1932 as an organization dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires. As a program of The American Legion, the SAL is coordinated through each Legion post, with a mission to strengthen the four pillars of the American Legion.
Membership Eligibility
Membership in the Sons of the American Legion is open to non-military men who have fathers, grandfathers, brothers, or sons who have served honorably or are currently serving in the military. This membership also includes adopted descendants and stepchildren, and veterans may hold a dual membership.
Nationally, the SAL actively promotes patriotism, particularly among youth organizations and schools. As a SAL member, it’s important to engage with your squadron commander to learn about this year’s scheduled activities and events focused on youth. Supporting these initiatives is a vital part of upholding the foundations of the SAL.

Commitment to Post 154
The members of Squadron 154 exemplify dedication through their hard work and unwavering support for Post 154. Even as the years have passed, these devoted men have volunteered their time for numerous activities. Whether serving delicious dinners in the “mess” hall or managing concessions during Friday night Bingo, they maintain an impeccable kitchen.
Their commitment to "honoring the service and sacrifice of Legionnaires" is evident as they clean, organize, and care for both the interior and exterior of the Legion building. With genuine enthusiasm, they come together to ensure the success of Tybee Island's Post 154. Their participation in community parades is a testament to their pride and dedication.

Recognizing Efforts
We salute the dedicated SAL members who recently spent an entire day power washing the building and walkways. Their hard work and sweat equity were contributed by John Calvert, Archie Lanier, Nick Dorazio, and Randy Winn.
We invite all community members to volunteer and help maintain our historic building, which serves as a proud home to Post 154.
