The Legacy of the American Legion
The National American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization dedicated to promoting mutual support among its members. Tybee Island American Legion Post 154 was established and incorporated on July 23, 1941, as a 501(c)(19) veterans organization.
Membership Opportunities
Many legionnaires enjoy the benefits of dual membership. If you hold an active membership, you have the opportunity to join the Sons of the American Legion or the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA). It's important to note that men are welcome to join the ALA as well. Together, these organizations work hand-in-hand to support veteran families and the community. The classic saying “All for one and one for all” encapsulates our mission perfectly.
