Tybee Island American Legion Auxiliary Unit 154
A Dedicated Beginning
Established in January 1941, this dedicated group has played a vital role in supporting veterans and the community. The inaugural president, Mrs. Nell V. Devine, led the unit from January 21, 1941, until October 1942.
The first members of Unit 154 kept a meticulous record of their volunteer efforts, documenting their contributions to the community and veterans' causes in a handwritten notebook. This invaluable piece of history highlights the timeline of events organized by the ladies and the challenges they faced in maintaining a working budget. Many of the initiatives they started continue to thrive within Unit 154 today.
Through their unwavering commitment and service, the members of Tybee Island American Legion Auxiliary Unit 154 have created a lasting legacy that benefits our veterans and enriches our community.
